Pool Water Testing & Balancing — North Lakes and North Brisbane

Technician adding chemicals for pool water balancing.

Clear, correctly balanced water is the foundation of a healthy pool. When the chemistry is right, your sanitiser works properly, your equipment lasts longer, and your pool is safe and comfortable to swim in. When it's off — even slightly — you'll notice it: cloudy water, irritated eyes, algae growth, and scale build-up on surfaces.

Why Water Balance Matters More Than You Think

Pool chemistry is a system, not a single number. Free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid and salt levels all interact. An imbalance in one area affects the others.

  • pH too high: chlorine becomes less effective; scale and cloudiness develop

  • pH too low: eye and skin irritation; accelerated equipment corrosion

  • Low alkalinity: pH becomes unstable and difficult to control

  • High stabiliser (CYA): chlorine is blocked from doing its job

  • Low salt (saltwater pools): the chlorinator cannot produce adequate chlorine

Our Water Testing Process

Bring a water sample to our North Lakes shop, or have our technician test on-site during a service visit. We test for free and total chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid (stabiliser), salt level and phosphates. After testing, we explain the results in plain language and recommend exactly what your pool needs — including specific products and doses.

Common Water Problems We Treat

Cloudy or milky water

01

Usually caused by high pH, high alkalinity, or a filtration issue. We identify the cause and correct it properly.

Green water (algae)

02

Requires more than a dose of chlorine. Our green pool recovery process treats algae systematically and restores water clarity.

Strong chlorine smell

03

Usually means too much combined chlorine (chloramines) from heavy bather load or insufficient shocking. We identify and correct this quickly.

Eye and skin irritation

03

Eye and skin irritation Most often a pH or stabiliser issue. We test and adjust to bring water into a comfortable, safe range.

Saltwater Pool Specialists

Saltwater pools make up the majority of residential pools across North Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region. Our technicians are experienced with all major saltwater chlorinator brands — whether your cell needs cleaning, your salt level has drifted, or your controller is showing an error code.

The Right Chemicals Make a Difference

We recommend good quality pool products for their consistency, quality and to comply with Australian standards. Chemicals from supermarkets and hardware chains are often lower concentration and can create new problems. When you have your pool water test analysis from our North Lakes shop, we advise on the correct dose for your pool size and type.
